Maintenance is the payment of financial support by one spouse to the other in respect of the living expenses of the spouse/ex-spouse and/or the dependent children.
Child maintenance is for the financial support of the children and is ordinarily payable to the spouse who has primary care and control of the children.
The amount of maintenance depends on the financial circumstances of the parties and the needs of the parties and, most importantly, their dependent children.
